Whenever I visit a local retailer I often ask myself why I don’t visit more often.  The experience is always a great one, and I’m also helping the local economy. So this holiday season, visit a small business in your area and be reminded of what personal service means. Small businesses offer us the ability to talk with the local shopkeeper about the goods and services they are passionate about.  It’s interesting and fun to learn more about your purchase and what makes it so special.

Check out the websites for small businesses in your area and see what a difference a little local flavor gives you. Or, visit a real store – in your real neighborhood!  Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Not only do they offer goods and services with a personal touch, but add value to the community. Buying local keeps the local tax base strong and attracts new businesses. Towns with thriving local businesses attract new residents and businesses, which encourage new revenues and services.

Small business Saturday is November 25. Take a welcome break from the frenzy and impersonalization of big box shopping this holiday season and visit local small businesses, either online or in-store. They will help you find the perfect gift item while making the shopping experience enjoyable!
